20 Nov 07 - 09:07 AM (#2198245) Subject: Baggyrinkle Carolling From: Skipper Jack Baggyrinkle and ladies (The ladies are affectionately known as "Strumpet Voluntary!") started their carolling last Sunday at Swansea's "Winter Wonderland" at the National Waterfront Museum. The lads and lassies are suitably attired in Victorian costume for the occasion and can be seen at the following venues: November 25th Norwegian Church, Cardiff Bay. December 9th Winter Wonderland Swansea & The Museum December 16th Gower Folk Club, Gryehound Inn, Oldwalls. December 18th Swansea City Centre December 19th National Waterfront Museum, Swansea December 20th St Peter's Church, Pontardawe December 23rd Winter Wonderland, Swansea December 23rd (evening) Plough & Harrow, Llansamlet. Add to that - in some of the venues, we include seasonal non religious songs. As for drinks, it is wine (or mulled wine) for the girls and good old fashion beer (or mulled wine) for the boys. Baggyrinkle, being maritime performers have not recorded any yuletide material. Part of the programme is dedicated to fund raising for some of the local charities. I don't know if any other maritime performers do this sort of thing? Dave R. |

Here's a link to how I've adapted his poem for singing: Click and go to MP3 sample Tom Lewis has also adapted the poem for singing, using a different tune. We always include a few Christmas parodies such as "Rolling Down to Bethleham" and the "Snow Shanty." But Roll & Go is not noted for its good taste in song selection.
