From: The Fooles Troupe I think there may well be a good song in this, but I decided that the BS tag was safer.... :-) Setting the Scene... Australian Election on Saturday - Channel 7 big "Election Night Special" - non-stop - Advertised with "No Ads Till the Result".... I wondered how they would pay for this, then it dawned on me Product Placement! Good Evening Prime Minister - "Would you like a Coca-Cola? You know, Things Go Better with Coke!" And you, Mr Rudd, Leader of the Labour Party, "No Thanks, I'll have a Pepsi - Drink of The Young Generation!" OK, Now I'll just sit in the corner and wait for the rest of the Mudcat Clowns.... :-) |

My continuing residence in Oz could depend on who gets up tomorrow to lead our country for the next few years - if it's 'Little Johnny' again, I'm outa here! Remember that a vote for the little turd is also a vote for his smirking side-kick Costello. I suppose Costello's mother must love him but, then again, compared to his lovely brother Tim, perhaps not. On Ya Kevy! YIU gecko |

23 Nov 07 - 06:38 PM (#2200963) Subject: RE: BS: No Ads Till the Result! From: Helen I just voted. Now I want to know the results but I have about 12 hours to wait for that, at least. I made a big blunder though. I forgot to put Fred Nile's party last in the senate vote. Didn't want to get another paper and write out the 79 numbers again so I have to be satisfied with putting him and his party almost last. It's a race between Pauline Hanson & Fred, now anyway, on who gets to be last on my ballot paper. Helen |

23 Nov 07 - 06:51 PM (#2200967) Subject: RE: BS: No Ads Till the Result! From: The Fooles Troupe Just got back. We had a redistribution, and I started getting stuff from the 'new' seat - bit exciting as the school (closest voting place I have always gone) is 100 yards from my place, and I was SUPPOSED to be switched.... but the boundaries are 'convoluted' to say the least ... :-) Guess what - I'm still in the original seat.... So having queued up more than once, I heard a lot of casual comments - the most common, even from those who have no children, is "I want to get rid of Work Choices" ... should be interesting tonight.... :-) |

24 Nov 07 - 07:58 AM (#2201232) Subject: RE: BS: No Ads Till the Result! From: The Fooles Troupe Well, Little Fascist Johnny is no longer 'in control'. A Statesman like concession speech. It's still not completely clear whether he has lost his seat, it's going to go right to the wire. I do hope he does lose, though, it will save him the embarrassment of having to resign, especially since he made the 'promise' that he would serve the full term if elected. Rudd needed 76 to win - various calls between 83 and 88 seats are being made. His speech was the "let's work together and gird our loins" speech. Interestingly, there were strong gains in Queensland, and it seems that the end of the National Party is in sight - their traditional stamping grounds have drifted to Labour as the traditional 'Country' areas get settled by city dwellers moving to the country areas. |
