Here in N.E.England we often have a surplus of rain & regularly have a deficit of sunshine. If anybody's interest in setting up some sort of international weather exchanging facility please let me know.:-)

Does anti-rain fall upwards and dry you, and sometimes result in a doolf?

Anti-rain does indeed fall upwards. You can experience it in Australia, where everything falls upwards and people walk around on their hands.

So, in Australia rain is subject to puerile levitation.

Is this rain solid or liquid, a cold Kentucky rain, a warm summer rain, a light mist, a frog strangler....................Far too many unknowns here. Without all the facts an intelligent vote cannot be given.

"WHAT HAVE THEY DONE TO THE RAIN" by Malvina Reynolds

Just a little rain falling all around
The grass lifts its head to the heavenly sound
Just a little rain, just a little rain
What have they done to the rain?

Just a little boy standing in the rain
The gentle rain that falls for years
And the grass is gone and the boy disappears
And the rain keeps falling like helpless tears
And what have they done to the rain?

Just a little breeze out of the sky
The leaves nod their heads as the breeze blows by
Just a little breeze with some smoke in its eye
And what have they done to the rain?

This thread is in response to another thread on "issues".

Shall we add snow, hail and sleet?

We'd die of thirst without.

A weather trading scheme is a great idea. Like art buying Middlesborough rain with rays of sun.

We could swop our down-falling rain for Aussie up-falling rain.

The full moon will br passed soon.

I passed a full moon once. As we did my buddy tossed a dart -- boy, did that full moon jump!

It may be noted that the people are frequently joined in lamenting "too much of too-little rain," but hardly anyone ever objects to "too little of too-much."

It comes from standing in the rain.

Preparation H may help.

Oh...I'm anti- rain until I get all my leaves raked and blown, then I'm for it.

I'm in favor of a moderate amount of rain, and I think it would be nice if it fell mainly between 1 AM and 4 AM.

Some people like rain. The vast majority of people don't. No issue there.
The issues appear when the minority attempt to impose their precipitation on the majority.

Bizarre? Not at all. As Richard Burton once sang:

The rain may never fall till after sundown.
By eight, the morning fog must disappear.
In short, there's simply not
A more congenial spot
For happily-ever-aftering than here
In Camelot.

Gotta like it or we'd go bananas! Up in this neck of the woods, we all have webbed feet and moss on our north sides.

A fish just swam past the window. . . .

I am absolutely LOVING the heavy rain here at the moment. About 30mm overall and going up to 12C today. On Novemebr 27, it could just as easily be -12C and 300mm of snow, driftted up between the houses, of course.

Definitely FOR rain.

I could do without the damn wind, gnu, rain or snow. I am so tired of power outages that last for days out here. NS Power has sucked mightily since they privatized it. If it is windy, I fully expect to be in the dark and flushing with a bucket, and I hate it. We have 'Juan Anxiety Syndome' out here, where we went for up to two weeks with no electricity. We made out all right, with wood and propane and a lake ten metres away, but a lot of people, seniors in particular, are totally dependent on power for heat, cooking and water.

As my daughter says, "Wadya expect? You live in a rain forest!" or "Oh, mom, you love the green dontcha!"

In Ireland they just say, "The day's a bit fresh."

I'm with littlehawk on this one. I'd like it alot better if it only rained at night. Can someone please arrange this?

All in all, I like the rain because when the sun comes out its soooooo green it sparkles and the air is so clean and fresh.

I like rain. I enjoy sitting with a cup of tea watching the birds in the rain. The various splashes in the puddles can be mesmerizing. Colors are much richer during and after a rain.

I get annoyed at TV weatherfolks who seem to assume that it can only be nice when it is 80 (27c) and sunny. I also like a good blizzard as long as I don't have to go anywhere.

Don't get me wrong, 80 and sunny is good, too, but I like a variety.
