Tune Req: MAXWELL

I remember a Phil Silvers show about a singing contest. I believe it was the episode entitled "The Singing Contest" but so far I haven't had much success on the web finding out about it. The gist of the plot was this: Pvt. (?) Paparelli was discovered to have a great singing voice so Sgt. Bilko enters him in a competition and he does a marvelous job with a song called "Maxwell". But he has a cold so Bilko (Silvers) sets about to cure him, which he does, but to his chagrin, Paparelli can only sing like that when he HAS a cold.

So much for the story. This was 1958 or '59 and I've always remembered that beautiful song but I have never heard it since and I'm not having much luck finding out about it. Any help?

Bilko hears of a singing contest in Miami and to get away from the bitterly cold weather he enters the platoon but on hearing them sing he puts a bet on for them to lose. While he is putting on the bet a new platoon member is found to have a beautiful singing voice.

Thanks Peace. I was pulling straight from the memory of a six year old who heard it one time. I'd sure like to recover that song. Was Billy Sands the singer?

Looks like maybe. His name came up in conjunction with the search. I tried Youtube with no luck. Do you know whether there are places that archive shows like that one?

No, I can't hum a few bars, but the tune can be heard here

Scroll down and click on 'Click to Play.'

You will have to use your mind's ear to change the cold, clinical sound of a MIDI grand piano to the resonant voice of a talented male vocalist.

Maxwell stuff at JC's Tunefinder. It's mostly 'tunes' and not songs tho.
