30 Nov 07 - 12:14 PM (#2205595) Subject: RE: BS: Animated Eschers!! From: Donuel There is currently a TV commercial associated with the NFL that features Escher's multi directional stairs and building concept except that is is in full color and real life perspective. I believe it was done with either 3D Max or Renderman software. |

30 Nov 07 - 03:17 PM (#2205732) Subject: RE: BS: Animated Eschers!! From: Helen There was also the scene in the movie The Labyrinth with David Bowie's character walking around one of Escher's scenes. I saw something on how it was done, and Bowie had to walk along some tilting walkways which flipped to a different angle as he walked. No animation, or digital effects, just clever ideas and editing. 01 Dec 07 - 08:08 PM (#2206549) Subject: RE: BS: Animated Eschers!! From: The Fooles Troupe A Dr WHO story was set in an Escher self-referential world. You should all read "Escher, Godel and Bach - an Eternal Golden Braid" by Douglas Hofstedder - a Pulitizer Prize winner. This explains Escher's 'self-referential' pictures and other interesting related things in computing, philsoiphy, music and very advanced mathematics... I HAD tried to read it several times, got bogged down, gave up. Then when the doctor had given me some special medicine for an inner ear infection - one drop on a sugar cube a couple of times a day - conatined noradrelin and a few other 'goodies' !!!?!- I flashed thru the whole book in a couple of hours, and completely and intuitively grasped the lot. I've previously mentioned this here. Perhaps that was what 'opened my mind' so that I topped the IQ test a few years laer.... :-P The bit about talking to an ant's nest is true - and it DOES work! - but my mum stopped the experiment and insisted that I go back to bed... |
