Tune Req: Goodbye Song,

Where can I find the tune to go with the Goodbye Song listed on this site. The lyrics start:
Here's my song, it won't take long,
When it's finished I'll be gone.
I'm overdue to travel on,
Just stopped to say goodbye.

Hmmm, the scan would fit Shake Sugaree, but the words are slightly different.

You can search through the DigiTrad database in the grey box up on the right where it says "Lyrics and Knowledge." I'll see what I can find.

I have spent about a half hour looking for the melody. NO success. Sorry. Unless someone actually sings the song and sees this thread, it doesn't look good. I'll try a refresh and it may jar a memory out there.

It is not "Goodbye Song" by Rose Chiazza, music adapted from Tchaikovsky, in "This is Music," vol. 8, which comes up in Search.

Any idea on where or when the song appeared? Singer?

Q: Ther are but two references to the song that I can locate. One is in the DT and the other is at lyricsareus or some such name. And it looks like they took the lyrics from the DT.

I had a quick look earlier - I found rather more than 2 sites, but every one was a copy of the DT!

When I said they were all a copy of the DT, I meant of course just that song (right down to the initials at the end!), not the entire DT (though if they have one, they might have them all). I think I googled:

"Goodbye song" "Here's my song" lyrics

I was hoping I might turn up an author and that might lead to a sound clip, alas to no avail.

Perhaps Dick or Susan know who the contributor JK is and can get some more information.

I hear you on that, Mike.

However, I figure if you, Jim, Q, Masato (and a few other guys/gals) can't find it, it ain't gonna be found.
