Verses have this form ~ sorry, can't remember compelte lyrics: I [did something bad, in appropriate meter] Somebody snitched on me; And [more naughtiness, to rhyme with first line] Somebody snitched on me! (Repeat chorus) I remember the tune and could sing it, but I don't have the knowhow to convey it here. |

From: Peace I'M GETTIN' NUTTIN' FOR CHRISTMAS (Roy Bennett / Sid Tepper) (1955) Recorded by : The Countdown Kids; Fishheads; The Fontane Sisters; Barry Gordon; Spike Jones; Art Mooney; Smash Mouth. I broke my bat on Johnny's head; Somebody snitched on me. I hid a frog in sister's bed; Somebody snitched on me. I spilled some ink on Mommy's rug; I made Tommy eat a bug; Bought some gum with a penny slug; Somebody snitched on me. Chorus: Oh, I'm gettin' nuttin' for Christmas Mommy and Daddy are mad. I'm gettin' nuttin' for Christmas 'Cause I ain't been nuttin' but bad. So you better be good whatever you do, 'Cause if you're bad, I'm warning you, You'll get nuttin' for Christmas! I put a tack on teacher's chair, Somebody snitched on me. I tied a knot in Susie's hair, Somebody snitched on me. I did a dance on Mommy's plants, Climbed a tree and tore my pants, Filled the sugar bowl with ants, Somebody snitched on me. Chorus: So, I'm gettin' nuttin' for Christmas Mommy and Daddy are mad. I'm gettin' nuttin' for Christmas 'Cause I ain't been nuttin' but bad. So you better be good whatever you do, 'Cause if you're bad, I'm warning you, You'll get nuttin' for Christmas! I won't be seeing Santa Claus; Somebody snitched on me. He won't come visit me because Somebody snitched on me. Next year I'll be going straight; Next year I'll be good, just wait I'd start now, but it's too late; Somebody snitched on me. |

08 Dec 07 - 10:43 PM (#2211710) Subject: RE: req: Why does Santa bring nothing to me? From: The Fooles Troupe I'm sorry Carol, but so many people treat Mudcat as a 'write only' place without reading whether what they want to post is 1) relevant to what has been asked, even if indeed, the thread already STATES that what they insist on posting is NOT relevant 2) Mudcat ALREADY contains many threads with exactly the same content (AND irrelevant to the current thread - see above!) as what they insist on posting... Spaw, where are you? :-P |

09 Dec 07 - 03:15 PM (#2212036) Subject: RE: req: Why does Santa bring nothing to me? From: PoppaGator Well, for what it's worth, I enjoyed reading the complete lyrics tht Bruce was kind and energetic enough to search out. I realized all along that I was introducting a bit of "drift" insofar as the song I was prompted to remember was very unlikely to be the one Carol was thinking of. However, I felt (and still feel) that my remarks were entrirely relevant to the title, "Why does Santa bring nothing to me?" And I hoped (and still hope) that more readers would find it relevant and amusing than would consider it an act of trespass. |

22 Dec 07 - 10:33 PM (#2221193) Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Why does Santa bring nothing to me? From: Jim Dixon Another good reason not to post NUTTIN' FOR CHRISTMAS is that it has already been posted here. I found this quote posted in another forum, with no title, attribution, or other explanation: Why don't Santa Claus bring nothing to me? Why don't he never, never call? Other little boys get plenty of toys, but I get nothing at all. I've heard of Christmas carols. I've seen a Christmas tree, But I must have been a very, very naughty little boy 'Cause he never brings nothing to me. |

23 Dec 07 - 11:50 PM (#2221699) Subject: Lyr Add: WHY DON'T SANTA CLAUS BRING SOMETHING TO From: Jim Dixon Found it! This is my transcription from a sound file found at this web site: Cylinders on the Web. (There are other copies at this Billy Williams fan site and at The Internet Archive.) WHY DON'T SANTA CLAUS BRING SOMETHING TO ME? As sung by Billy Williams, 1913. 1. A little boy was talking to another boy next door, Who was playing with a lot of Christmas toys upon the floor. Said he, "Where did you get those from? They are a bit all right." The other boy replied, "Why, Santy Claus brought them last night." "That's funny," said the little chap. "I hung my stocking, too, But Santy Claus forgot me and he's brought them all to you! CHORUS: "Why don't Santy Claus bring something to me? Why don't he never, never call? Other girls and boys get plenty of toys, But I get nothing at all. I've heard of Christmas carols. I've seen a Christmas tree, But I must have been a very naughty, naughty little boy, For he never brings nothing to me." 2. The little chap went in the house, his mother tried to find. He saw her and he said, "Say, isn't Santy Claus unkind? He's left a lot of lovely toys for that kid there next door. He cheeks his mother too, much more than I do you, I'm sure. I wonder what I've done that he should never come in here. Perhaps you know the reason. Won't you tell me, mummy dear? 3. The boy said to his mother as a tear fell from her eye, "I'll write to Santy Claus tonight and ask the reason why." "Dear Santy Claus," he wrote, "You quite forgot to bring some toys To me just like you bring to all the other little boys. I'm sending this to Heaven 'cause my mummy says you're there, And please excuse me 'cause I haven't got a stamp to spare." |
