09 Dec 07 - 05:59 PM (#2212114) Subject: A Present to Mudcat and Max From: Rapparee So I PMed Max and it turns out he's running a 100GB external on this thing and he could really, really use more drive space. (I think he wet his pants over the idea.) Why did I email Max? I offered to buy him a 1TB external drive (USD 300 to 500). Thought it would make a nice gift. Then the wind blew a door and broke it off in its casing. Not only will the door have to be replaced, but the whole thing that fits into the wall as well. It will most likely cost less than the deductible on the insurance, which means it comes out of my pocket. And I don't have money in there right now for a 1TB drive AND to have a new door put in. So.....I'll make this challenge: I'm in for USD 100.00 around the end of December/first week in January. Who else is? If you'd like, PM me and I'll act as banker (with full accounting to all who want it) and send it all to Max in one check. Or send it to Max yourself, noting it's for the 1TB drive. Or just buy him a 1TB drive with external SATA and firewire. I don't care. Let's just get her done, folks. |

I like your style.:-) Folks, I can also attest to our Master Librarian cum swordsman's trustworthy banking as it was he who collected for the First Annual Mudcat Living Treasure Award and also was its most generous supporter. In that light, I am good for a donation, not sure how much until nearer the end of the year. I'll PM you when I know, Rapaire, and thank you! katlovingMudcat! |

10 Dec 07 - 12:05 AM (#2212279) Subject: RE: A Present to Mudcat and Max From: artbrooks You have to have a personal PayPal account to send via them. They verify that your bank account is real...basically by making a 5 cent deposit and withdrawal. Then, when you do a PayPal payment, they take the money directly from your account - essentially like using a debit card. Start here - but I'm not sure about people in Oz and other outlandish such places. |
