04 May 99 - 02:43 PM (#75584) Subject: Help with two Irish songs, please From: Norrie (inactive) I am looking for background information and especially accreditation on two songs. One is, I know, a traditional song, however, if anyone knows it's background, I would appreciate the information. That is "I'm Leaving Tipperary" I have also seen it referred to as "Goodbye Mack, Goodbye Pat" and the lyrics appear here in the forum under the title "Goodbye Mick" The other song is one that I know was done by the Makem Brothers and that I assume is relatively newer. It is called "The Return of the Clipper Ships" [Day of the Clipper] Again, any information that anyone has to share would be much appreciated. Thanks. Norrie |

Their material was released on vinyl a few years ago, so is probably available on CD these days. Shoh slaynt, Bobby Bob |

Do you remember the Peter Sellers recording? That was someone or other (sorry, forgotten that, too) and his Men of Shamrock. The age and the drink have obviously taken their toll of the little grey cells. Lhiats, Bobby Bob
