I want to thank everyone who responded to my request for lyrics to a Jim Ringer song yesterday. I gave what I thought were some words to the song but Sandy Paton said that they may have been from a Carter Family tune titled: "You've Been A Friend To Me". If anyone has the lyrics to that tune I would appreciate those also. Again, thanks to everyone who participated.

Bermuda: Hope Shambles (our resident poet) has finally led you to the song you've been seeking. Nice work, folks. I knew you wouldn't let me down!

I've been looking for the melody to this song ever since someone sang it on "Prairie Home Companion" last weekend. Found this great site and the melody, although it is somewhat different from the one on the radio (which was similar to "Bury Me Beneath the Willow")

Music of W.S. Hays

Look under 1867 for the midi file.

Thanks for the site, Barbara! I listened to a few at random. I must say that Jimmy Brown (The Paper Boy) steps along a tad faster than the Carters did it. LOL!

Good stuff there, thanks again.
