19 Dec 07 - 03:29 PM (#2219132) Subject: BIG BARTON NEW YEAR SESSION From: Bloke in the Corner What with Christmas falling on a Tuesday it means there won't be a Six Bells Barrow session next week. So we've decided to put this thread on the cat, to encourage Catters from both sides the Humber, as well as from anywhere else in the land, to join us the following Tuesday, New Year's Day, for a BIG session. As usual no bosses, no cliques, no rules other than politeness towards everyone, mostly tunes but songs allowed - but expect musicians to join in! Those who know the session know we are very welcoming, the pub is less than ten minutes from the south end of the Humber Bridge (PM me if you need directions), the beer and the craic are both good. So come along, get the New Year's Eve celebrations shook out of your system - or carry them on - and make it a storming session. Of course, particularly delighted to see young ones- who will not yet be back at school. See you there Lawrie

I shall be with you in spirit at a similar session.... ...what would be the first song you would choose to sing in the New Year? Best wishes, Peter |

Do make the time zone change for t'Humber Bridge. though I'm not sure about the Hispanic greetings. I'm a German and French teacher, y'know. How about guten Tag and a go on the Oompah band? See you for a wassail Lawrie |

26 Dec 07 - 09:06 AM (#2222675) Subject: RE: Big Barton New Year Session From: Bloke in the Corner Very easy to get to from the south bank of the Humber Bridge. Go down into Barton on Humber, turn right at the bottom of the hill and follow the road through the town and out towards Barrow. It's about three miles past Barton. At the T junction turn right, follow the road round to the left then turn left into the village centre (Royal Oak pub on your left). Take the first right and the Six Bells is directly on your right, in the village centre. It's less than ten minutes by car from the Humber Bridge. Anyway, Janet and the north bankers are threatening to come, so it should be a storming session. Any danger of Louth folk turning up? You'd be most welcome. Lawrie |

27 Dec 07 - 11:31 AM (#2223234) Subject: RE: Big Barton New Year Session From: Bloke in the Corner See you there. And of course people such as the horse flogger(s) and the regular Beverley sessioners would be most welcome - Jo, Graham etc. Even Gedpipes - nay, ESPECIALLY Gedpipes. If you confirm your attendance, Mr Ged, I'll personally lay on a supply of pork pie of good quality. This also applies to the man with more then two sheds, Paco pan the mandola man and other gallows fodder and flibbertigibbets. Did you like that word? Shows the value of a REAL education, not like nowadays...mumble mumble...falling standards...can't even speak English, let alone write it...dribble dribble... Love to all Lawrie |
