Lyr Add: Mulla-Mulgars' Journey Song

This was one of my favorite adventure poems as a child, and I even finished the thick book it was in. Maybe I should re-read it:

Mulla-Mulgars' Journey Song

That one, alone,
Who's dared and gone
To seek the Magic Wonderstone,
No fear, or care,
Or black despair
Shall heed until his journey's done.

Who knows, where grows
The Mulgars' rose,
In valleys 'neath unmelting snows —
All secrets, he
Shall pierce and see,
And walk unharmed where'er he goes.

Wonder if it has a tune?

From THE THREE MULLA-MULGARS, by Walter De La Mare, Duckworth & Co, London, ©1910.

Hello Charley,

Thanks for posting this...I hear Greensleeves when I read the words through...so I guess any tune of the same "build quality" would suffice.

Perhaps it is best done as a recitation at a campfire, when the flickering shadows are at their most impressive and you are in half shadow!

Walter wrote some excellent verse in his time.

Best wishes,

Peter

Peter-

Greensleves might well be a good base for a musical setting.

Thanks!
