14 Jan 08 - 11:40 PM (#2236677) Subject: Old concert posters needed for a book From: Mitch Diamond Hi, I am working on a book or pre-1970 concert posters and handbills with Paul Grushkin, the author of "The Art of Rock". I am looking for all types of music including Jazz, Rock, Blues, R&B, Country and Western, Rockabilly, Gospel, Rock n Roll and Bluegrass. Being an old folkie, banjo player and morris dancer makes the folk music genres near and dear to my heart. I am especially looking for mid-1960's Newport Folk Festival posters and flyers, stuff from coffee houses like Gerde's, Village Gate, Cafe a Go Go, Ash Grove, local 14x22 cardboard concert posters and many more. I am happy just to photograph them for the book but being a collector, I will pay thousands of dollars in cash for certain items. I can travel to pick things up. You might want to visit my website to get an idea and see some of the stuff that I have or has passed through my hands. I have stuff from Hank Williams, The Carter Family, Bill Monroe, Ralph Stanley, Flatt and Scruggs, Doc Boggs, Mississippi John Hurt, Howling Wolf, Elmore James, Bob Dylan, Buddy Holly, The Beatles, Jerry Lee Lewis,Little Richard, Duke Ellington, Satchmo, Billie Holiday, Ma Rainey, Benny Goodman, George Jones, The Rolling Stones, The Golden Gate Quartet, Eddie Cochran, Sam Cooke, Jackie Wilson, Jonathan Richman and much more. The Kardboardkid's poster collection Thanks, Mitch |

The text was by Hank Bradley and the drawings (I think) by Rick Shubb. It may take me a week to find it in the freshly massively culled and reorganized basement clutter (the first activity of this newly retired catter), but it is definitely out of the ordinary from the Bay Area posters of the day. Would "Black Oak Arkansas" 1970 count?
How about "Iron Butterfly" 1967?
Perhaps, "Ice House" "Golden Bear" 1966? How "big" is a poster? Will 11x14 count? Two color.
Will you make a contribution to the Mudcat/Max?

On the web site of the Pacific Northwest Folklore Society. You'd have to contact Bob (aka Deckman on MC) about permission to use them. Cheers, S. in Seattle |
