Camp Song-
Sung at Methodist Youth Fellowship (MYF)Camp - Western USA - circa 1958

CHANT - **** Offending party's name inserted

**Mable** **Mable** strong and able
Get your elbows off the table
This is not a horses stable
But a first class dining table

TUNE - "London Bridges Falling Down"
Round the outside you must go
You must go, you must go
Round the outside you must go,
You get going.

Chorus "Round the..." continues until the person has returned to their seat.

Sincerely,
Gargoyle

Back in the 30's it was sung to the tune of "Reuben and Rachel"

XXX, XXX Strong and able
Keep your elbows off the table
Were you brought up in a stable?
Da-dee-da-da da-da-da.

I always heard it by the Reuben, Reuben melody.

I heard it with just the first two lines, followed by the "round the table" part...no stables or anything interesting in my version.

the other 'round the table' type song I knew was:
Knit one, Purl two
your-name-here, we love you.
Stand up, stand up..
we won't shut up 'til you stand up
Stand up, stand up
we won't shut up 'til you stand up.

Fortunately, most people stand up immediately to get it over with as quickly as possible.
