Thanks for that, Tim.

I was a big Cordelia's Dad fan. (and he introduced me to Shape Note singing)

I think that he sounds like Martin Carthy and Michael Stipe had a baby together...

But that's a good thing!

I remember being blown away when I first heard Tim sing (in the Theatre Bar at Sidmouth).

Why so few entries on this thread?
Is Tim Eriksen the best kept secret around?
He helped with the music on Oh Brother and
Cold Mountian and was in Cordelia's Dad

his web page states:"...is the only person to
have appeared with both Doc Watson and Kurt
Cobain and to have unintentionally cut himself
on stage at both CBGB and the Academy Awards"

The Archives at mvyradio -- www.mvyradio.com --
now feature Tim Eriksen And The Shape Note Singers,
captured in Summer 2006 at the Newport Folk Festival.
You can hear the performance at http://mvyradio.com/downloads/archives.php

here is a link to a musical instrument museum
he is involved in http://www.themim.org/

He has studied music all over the world..I think i saw a reference
to Macedonia as well as other places/countries/styles. check out
his my space page to hear more...including Balkan and Bosnian music.
His profile claims 108 year old female, but don;t believe a word of it!

On John Colby's Hymn he is doing throat singing-like they do in Tuva.
