Trumpeter with the pre-war Lew Stone band and a member of the Squadronaires in WW2, he had a long association with George Chisholm, and was a guiding light to Pat Halcox and Digby Fairweather, amongst others. Played for many years after the war at the London Palladium with the Skyrockets, was a member of Jack Parnell's ATV Orchestra and provided the 'noises' for Lips in the Muppets. Played his last live gig at Ealing Jazz Festival just before his 90th birthday. Two sons are both professional musicians. FC |
