Go to the bottom of the lyric and click on "Click here to play". You can download the MIDI instead of playing it if you like - right click on "Click here to play" and choose from the menu. You can then use a notation program to print the music notation. Many Mudcatters use Noteworthy Composer which is inexpensive & can be downloaded from their web site click here.

A few months ago I started writing a user guide for Mudcatters to encourage everyone to submit some new TUNES to the DT. There are many ways to do this, even for complete musical novices, but I believe that one of the easiest methods is to use a MIDI piano keyboard plugged into your PC's soundcard (or whatever wonderful contraptions that MAcs use). And of course you need some sequencing software, such as the inexpensive NoteWorthy Composer package. Well, I recently picked up a 4 octave MIDI keyboard for $US 40, and I thought that with a bit of keyboard entry experience I could (perhaps) finish writing my tome.
But alas and alack! I just can't get it to work at all - not a single crotchet have I been able to enter. I must admit that I haven't had the time to devote to it, but if any readers out there are experienced in this regard, I would appreciate some help. Apart from NWC I also have Cakewalk and Power Tracks Pro which should be able to do the same job (plus Band In A box, SuperJam ...) but again lack of time has crueled me.
I am sort of confident that my hardware is fine, but there are a number of pieces in the puzzle.

You should see your sound card listed under input ports and output ports. If your card has 2 inputs & outputs check that the right one is selected. Let me know....

16 May 99 - 08:01 PM (#78990) Subject: RE: Muisc notation From: John in Brisbane I've now got it working thanks Alan. I re-installed my drivers, but I think my main problem was my own myopia. There's a switch on top of my keyboard which enables/disables the MIDI input and output.
BTW Alan, any chance of making a small change to your program (MIDI to Text converter)? Upon successful conversion you have a text line which appears on the screen which presumably says " File conversion successful" or similar. It is so brief that I've only just noticed it, and I've used your utility more than a hundred times. I f you cock up the syntax of the file name, I don't think that you see anything. There seems to be an opportunity to increase the screen time of the successful outcome and/or provide give some clue as to the negative one. Should you have the time I would be more than happy to trial it.
