Lonestar Stout - Feb Texas Tour

For those Mudcatters in Texas I want to pass on some info about a series of tours dates I'll be playing with My friends Mason Brown, Michael William Harrison, Hugh Morrison and my son Jaime Marum.

We're calling the concert series Lonestar Stout and we'll be loosely focused on the subject thread of Irish and Texas music. There's lots of detail at the Lonestar Stout including sound clips and calendar details.

We have a few radio shows along the way too. I'll have all those dates and times up-to-date at the Myspace page. The south Texas shows are house concerts and they ask for you to call ahead for reservations. The details for these three South Texas house concert details are on this site. They are in Corpus Christi, Houston and Cypress.

The two shows in North Texas are at good sized venues. Here're those details.

I'm working on my 15-year-old. He's really stepping into the music at school this year, with a couple of jazz band opportunities, and all exposure to live music like this is beneficial, I think.

Jed, are you going to be working the weekend of the NTIF?
I was hoping to run into you there.
Maybe pick a tune or two.
If not, I'll have to make do with Ed Miller and John Taylor!

Seamus - I'm not at NTIF this year. I'll be working elsewhere unfortunately. They said after they negotiated your rate they could no longer afford me!

OK, just kidding. I wish I could be there but it's not in the cards this year. Ed and John are fine company though - so you're in good hands!

I hope you can make it Wesley and SRS. We need all the help we can get! Last night was a great show in Crockett TX - but the crowd was a bit thin!

It's tough getting folks to turn off the TV and come out for music, sometimes! I'm can be the same way - when I don't have to go out; I usually don't!

It was a very nice concert! What a great venue--space, food, acoustics, parking, and non-smoking!

Good to meet Uncle Phil and Wesley S. and to pass along the best Mudcat gossip to Jed. (That our mutual friend Marion is now an RN was one tidbit I shared!)

I just posted a snapshot of
Mudcatters in Arlington, Texas to the Mudcat Flickr group along with some pictures of the show. We enjoyed the whole evening. The show was very entertaining and it was nice to be able to hear it so well. To top it off there was good company and tables full of homemade desserts. A large time in Arlington last night.

I always find myself contemplating the flash setting, the lights overhead, doing the camera mechanics in my head instead of paying attention to being part of the group. That's the curse of the photographer--you can end up being a kind of uncooperative subject because you'd rather have the camera in your own hands.

At least most of us are smiling in the second photo. We WERE having a good time. Good songs, a good room and good companions. Who could ask for more?

a smaller country, so we could all get to more things?

Ah, well..I've had the good fortune to hear Jed on several occasions....though I hear he's been practicing... ☺

Wish I could meet more of you folks. (Always glad to see those who can make it to the Getaway..in October this year)

Practice? Jeb practices? I thought he was sprung on as a fully formed musical entity.

Thanks for the pics, y'all! We're almost smiling in a few of them ...

It was a fun evening, but I have to admit we were a bit tired ... I packed a little too much work into a very short schedule. It was fun though.

THANKS SO MUCH FOR COMING OUT!

Practice is good. I recommend it highly - and do it frequently, but some people call it playin'.

Everyone does look more cheerful in SRS's group hug picture than they do in mine. I guess I should have gotten the photographer who took her's to take mine.

I hope to take a similar picture at the Walnut Valley Festival in Winfield, Kansas this Septembe. Please take a minute to send an email hq@wvfest.com and tell them how great it would be to have Jed perform there. Even if you don't go yourself it will help the rest of us get a great picture.
