Bill D. and Ferrara, what's up?

Another bunch of missing Mudcatters. I was just going through the "How old is a Mudcatter" thread to summarize the statistics and I noticed that Bill D.'s celebrating a birthday in May. Some talk about inviting everybody to a big party since he's hitting one of the "significant numbers." It occurred to me that I had not heard about the party and then it occurred to me that I haven't heard from Bill D. or his wife Ferrara. Anybody know what's up? I can't imagine we chased Bill away, he's clearly to crotchety to be moved by anyone. And at last report, Ferrara was loving the DT and working out double time on her Mc Arthur harp.

Just a little concerned and thought I'd let others be concerned, too.

Hey RiB, you're right! I just did a forum search with BilD as the user and it showed his last posting as having been in 1997! I KNOW that's wrong, but then I did the same for Ferrara and her last posting was 4/26/99.

Sure hope you are okay, Bill and Ferrara. Hope we hear from you, soon.

A bunch of mudcatters saw them at the Greater Washington Carley party [the infomal April version of the October Getaway] a week ago. they are both fine. Where were you, Roger? Max and Bert came down.

You want to hear from Ferrara? Just start a thread asking for the words to some really obscure song from 1890. She'll reappear in a flash, typing all of them out of her memory, not her notebook! For Bill D., it would have to be an old traditional number, but that would also work for him.

So, Sandy, do you or they know anything about Uncle Bob's Prayer? My dad's looking for it. Said it used to be on the back of Whiz Bang. Not much luck on the thread I started.

And speaking of the conspicuously absent, where the heck is AlistairUK? He also dropped out of sight at the end of April.

Susan of DT,

I did recall that they were going there. Rita invited me and even teased me further by saying Max was coming down. I had other obligations and this event didn't feel like the sort of "one time" thing like meeting Rick Fielding and Joe Offer in the same event. I do have plans to attend the Getaway in October. Have you enticed Max to that or has he had his fill of DC?

Thanks for asking about me.

It is still a "puzzlement" to not read any cantakerous replies from Bill D. *grin*. Sure hope we hear from them soon.

Its beginning to feel like a good idea to let the 'Cat know if you're going away for awhile and you are a regular. I know I did it once and Mick thought I was dying or something because I hadn't been very explicit. What an old softy he must be:-).

All I know is that Ferrara has yet to make it to a shanty sing ... another opportunity presents itself next Tuesday at the Hard Times Cafe on King Street, Old Town Alexandria (last time it conflicted with a Reston VA sing).

Cheers, Brian

Bill D and Ferrara's computer (the windows program) is sick. They are fine but suffering from "cat" withdrawal.

WE'RE BA-AAACK!!!

Bill got the darned thing fixed today. For the first week after everything went nuts, we didn't have e-mail either, so couldn't let anyone know what was happening. And we had so many other things to get done that my brain was mush.

Bill's managing the crafts area at the Washington Folk Festival. Me, I'm still juggling teacher conferences and trying to help our son get out of eleventh grade in the short term, and into college in the long term.

Gosh, I have to admit it was nice to be missed. Now we're trying to speed-read three weeks' worth of threads! Next time (may there never be a next time), we'll find a way to let our friends know what's going on. - Rita Ferrara

thank you, one and all...*smile*..it was a LONG snafu...To all those who asked, wondered, emailed, etc, I can only say it was WEIRD knowing you were there, and not being able to respond...

To those who wonder about the album, I will get back to it as soon as possible...I have a couple of new submissions and still plan to improve the layout...but the next 2-3 weeks, as I help get the Washington Folk Festival going, will be hectic..and as Sandy and Banjer and Roger have noted, I ain't as young as I once was...(though I do feel more like I do now than I ever did before)...

as Dorothy said to Auntie Em.."There's NO place like home"..

Yeah, Susan, soon as we got access, I found the zither thread! Wonderful, wonderful! -- as was Kelly Williams' zither site, for which a link was given in that thread. I've already exchanged e-mails with Kelly, so that thread turned out to be a real treat for me in several ways.
