06 Feb 08 - 08:33 AM (#2254878) Subject: Red Shoes From: Cuddles I found these two great people on Myspace recently and was very impressed with their cover versions of Sandy's songs. I've since found them to be excellent songwriters in their own right, as well as very kind and thoughtful people. Carolyn and Mark 'Red Shoes' Red Shoes Myspace - including their touching coversof Sandy's songs, Have a listen to 'My Father's Green Beret' It's one of those 'special' songs that will go very deep with many. This is from their blog: "My father's Green Beret" - (Carolyn Evans); was written in anger at the way South Birmingham Health Authority have let my father down. At the age of 82, after suffering a major brain heamhorrage two years ago, he has been fighting MRSA and CDiff, which eventually will kill him. After serving in the Second World War as a Royal Marine Commando, his house had to be sold to pay for his care, and due to hospital neglect he contracted both of the infections. I hope that the starkness of the sound truly captures and relects how I feel about this appalling situation. My love goes out to all those who have lost loved ones through a similar situation. Thanks to my youngest daughter for her piano accompaniment, her grandfather would be very proud - Carolyn." |

06 Feb 08 - 01:02 PM (#2255087) Subject: Red Shoes - covers of Sandy Denny songs From: Joe Offer Seems to be working OK now. Maybe the MySpace site wasn't working properly last night. I can't say I could take a steady diet of this (or of Sandy Denny, for that matter) - but the woman has a good voice. As a whole, I'd say the recording is pretty good, if you like that kind of music. -Joe- |
