09 Feb 08 - 03:25 PM (#2257915) Subject: Festival in Pickering N. Yorks, August. From: Folkiedave I see there is a new festival in Pickering N. Yorks with some great guests. Put not much publicity as far as I can see. Eddi Reader, Luka Bloom, Carthy and Swarbrick. Eliza Carthy Band, Demon Barber Roadshow, Bella Hardy Trio, Last Night Fun, Less Barker etc. Seems to lack publicity though. |

10 Feb 08 - 02:27 PM (#2258632) Subject: RE: Festival in Pickering N. Yorks, August. From: Folkiedave I suspect it is a way of using the Showground since the facilities look excellent. Bit like Shrewsbury at a guess. I am happy to anyone who wishes to run a festival - but I would respecfully suggest the marketing might improve. Dave |

10 Feb 08 - 02:30 PM (#2258638) Subject: RE: Festival in Pickering N. Yorks, August. From: LesB I'm less than impressed with the website. It's some sort of message board which requires registration. If people can't just surf in & look then they won't. Cheers Les |

10 Feb 08 - 02:36 PM (#2258644) Subject: RE: Festival in Pickering N. Yorks, August. From: Jean(eanjay) I hadn't even heard of this festival until now and only found the website by googling. It really is a shame that it is the same weekend as Saltburn which is a good festival. It is only about an hours drive from Saltburn to Pickering so I suppose you could do a bit of each! |

11 Feb 08 - 10:11 AM (#2259401) Subject: RE: Festival in Pickering N. Yorks, August. From: Mr Happy I tried the website earlier & just got a blank, its up now. It doesn't list the guests & says tickets are not for sale! Also, there's no mention of sinarounds, seshes or workshops. Guess its a audience orientated concert prog, rather than a folk fest of the kind with which I'm familiar |
