From: clueless don I have a popular culture question: In what movie (or was it more than one?) did a group of teenagers say "Let's put on our own show! We've got everything we need!" I have impressions that this may have had something to do with "Andy Hardy", and may have involved Mickey Rooney and/or Judy Garland. But these impressions are not the same thing as actual knowledge. From: McGrath of Harlow So far as films go it was indeed a staple plot device in the Andy Hardy series, but in books I'd say Jane Austin's Mansfield Park may have been the first time it happened.
