BS: Weimie-Burgers!

Guess what? The Chinese have finally found a use for Weimaraners, which are, all things considered, probably about the most useless breed of dog out there, right? Well, they're making them into fast food. "Weimie-Burgers" are now a hot item (literally) in cities like Beijing and Shanghai, and will soon be exported all over the world in frozen form, ready to cook.

I tried 'em and they're great. They taste far better than pork or beef and are far better for you. Plus, you get to rid the world of Weimaraners at the same time. What could possibly be better than that?

Look for Wiemie-Burgers soon at your neighborhood supermarket and corner stores.

You really are a troublemaker, aren't you, LH. Don't you have anything better to do? Something with a trace of redeeming social value, as they say?

That's the whole point, isn't it? Pick a fight with an icon, and you look as big as the icon. It's the fate of the fast-draw wannabe. If you win, every kid in the Southwest will be looking for a chance to call you out...

Little Hawk is only jealous because his own preferred breed of dog looks remarkably at home in an oversized hot dog bun.

Personally, I don't have a dog in this fight, I'm a cat man. Cats are almost perfect pets. In fact, they would be perfect if there were only a few more recipes for 'em.

Note the touching look in his eyes. He isn't quite sure what it's all about, but he is eager to please, regardless. And therein lies the charm of a dachshund.

Their charm is that they will bite the nuts off a badger if they can get it turned around. Fearless they are. And with great temperament. A good pet for those who enjoy a loyal companion. This is wiener dog number 5.

Yeah, the full size ones are very courageous, generally speaking. The miniatures, on the other hand, tend to be nervous and exhibit extreme cowardice. ;-) (unless they think they have the upper hand...then their bullying side comes out...)

My advice? Get a full size dachshund.

I missed the BIG show this year. Piss me off! The Westminster is a highlight for me. And not just because I like the dogs. I really like the announcer and the commentators. They crack me up sometimes. Not to mention some of the handlers and judges.

Hawk, please tell me you aren't really that dense. 132 years of Westminster....THE dog show in the US. Madison Square Garden, NYC....(no, of course it isn't square)

Only real problem with Westminster is that we only get to see the Groups, not the breed rings. I have been so sick that even I slept thru both nights. And a BEAGLE took it!!!!!!

(at least it wasn't another damn terrier)

My mother raised Irish Setters. So my sister took Chick (full name: Chiquita Sabrina Garnet) to obedience school, and THREE TIMES that dog flunked out.

Just for grits & shins she entered that bitch in a Regional Dog Show. And when Chick hit that ring she was DEAD perfect! You could have exploded an A-bomb behind and she would have stayed. She exhibited perfect configuration and movement and all that stuff. She won Best of Breed and Best of Show.

And as my sister took the dog out of the ring, Chick peed on the floor....

My dog is so convinced he's Best of Breed that I wouldn't dare take him to a show. Finding out that he wasn't quite so high up the ladder as he supposes might prove to be a fatal shock to his little ego.

Watching the Westminster all these years is what made "Best in Show" a bit funnier. This year that howling Beagle won but I was happy to see at least the best dog WAS chosen Best in Sporting Group......This is Ch Colsidex Seabreeze Perfect Fit aka "Marge." I personally prefer the Longhair Weims like Jaeger
and Daddy's girl Sissy in their salad days.

But(t) Hawk, this is indeed a lame attempt to strike back for my recent truthful and accurate posts regarding Dachshunds. No one buys your pathetic bullshit (which Dachshunds resemble) as it is a known fact throughout the universe that Doxies are the finest asswipes available anywhere. If I were so sorry as to own more than one of them I would start a porta-potty business.

Oh, I get it now. It's a TV thing, and I don't watch TV. The Westminster, I mean. That's why I didn't know about it. Matter of fact, my mother, who watches TV incessantly, was telling me that some Beagle won some presitigious dog show just in the last 24 hours, and I guess that must have been the Westminster. I presume so, anyway. How serendipitous. What synchronicity.

Anyway, you're wrong, Spaw. All kinds of people buy my pathetic bullshit. Yes, they do! How do you think I can afford to pay for my guitars and stuff? How do you think I got that lifesize statue of Bill Shanter? Hmmm? Those things aren't cheap. My pathetic bullshit is selling way better than you think. Why, I even got a PM from someone protesting this very thread...they said it would upset people on this forum who own...dogs?...or Weimaraners? Naw, must've been just dogs, because very few people are silly enough to own a Weimaraner.

Anyway, my point is, that person apparently bought my pathetic bullshit, if I can believe their PM....so there you have it! I rest my case.

Now, take a look at this:

Sheer poetry!

Ya' know Hawk, the head of a Dox can be almost lovely, almost as pretty as some other fine hounds but sadly it contains a pea-size brain and is attached to a comically designed body with midget legs. Very sad.............

LH, I´ve had miniatures that were pretty tough...

Often breeders of miniatures have small regular sized bitches bred with miniature males (makes birth easier), but I think it depends on the breeders. Those who breed working dogs generally have better dogs.

Where`s Bente btw?

God, that sounds horrifying, Ebbie.

I will admit (reluctantly) that Weimaraners are very handsome dogs. My cousins had one, and it was named Heidi. It scared the hell out of one of our dachshunds, because it kept staring at him silently and fixedly, as if it wasn't quite sure whether or not he was on the list of "small furry animals to be siezed by the neck and instantly dispatched". We had to put the poor Dachshund outside in our car for the duration of the visit. While there he consumed an entire box of Laura Secord chocolates which had been left on the rear window ledge, and this led to a later incident which was quite messy...

At any rate, I have just been pretending that I think Weimaraners are useless dogs, because Spaw insulted William Shatner, Winona Ryder, and Dachshunds in the same breath on another thread of mine. Anyone who would do that is either an unconscionable pervert or a total dumbass. Maybe both. ;-)

But when the object of one's worship doesn't know of your existence, does that count? I"m glad the little dachsies know the Hawk. *g*

I just realized that this is a tangible instance of a contention of mine: When a being loves something - anything- it makes that being more capable of loving, and the more essential loving becomes to that being.

"But when the object of one's worship doesn't know of your existence, does that count?"

Good question. It certainly counts to the worshipper. Anyway, that very question may have been what was on the mind of this guy I knew who was obsessed with Shania Twain. He WANTED to "count" in Shania's life, so he made sure she knew of his existence...by phoning her, sending her letters and gifts, showing up on her doorstep to declare his undying love and provide a getaway car so they could run off from her supposedly (according to him) "abusive" husband together and live happily ever after, etc...until she got the police to arrest him over it. He was issued with a restraining order.

So perhaps it is best for all concerned that Winona does not know of my existence. ;-)

As for the Great Shatner...my lips are sealed.

143 MILLION POUNDS of California beef that goes into our school lunch programs was just recalled for mad cow.

It seems that the diseased animals that could no longer walk were being dragged to the slaughterhouse floor.

No, it wasn't recalled for BSE. Here's the whole statement from the Sec. of Ag.:

Statement by Secretary of Agriculture Ed Schafer Regarding Hallmark/Westland Meat Packing Company Two Year Product Recall
        February 17, 2008

"Today, USDA is announcing additional actions as a result of the ongoing investigation at Hallmark/Westland Meat Packing Company. USDA's Food Safety and Inspection Service (FSIS) has evidence that Hallmark/Westland did not consistently contact the FSIS public health veterinarian in situations in which cattle became non-ambulatory after passing ante-mortem inspection, which is not compliant with FSIS regulations. Because the cattle did not receive complete and proper inspection FSIS has determined them to be unfit for human food and the company is conducting a recall.

The United States enjoys one of the safest food supplies in the world. To help ensure the safety of the food supply, we implement a series of safeguards to protect against foodborne disease. These safeguards include in-plant procedures to reduce dangerous foodborne pathogens such as E. coli O157:H7 and Salmonella. It also includes the removal of specified risk materials-those tissues demonstrated to contain the bovine spongiform encephalopathy agent in infected cattle-from the human food chain, along with the U.S. Food and Drug Administration's 1997 ruminant to ruminant feed ban. The prohibition of non-ambulatory cattle from the food supply is an additional safeguard against bovine spongiform encephalopathy.

Upon notification of possible violations of USDA regulations, we immediately began an investigation and placed products from this plant destined for the National School Lunch Program, the Emergency Food Assistance Program and the Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations on hold. Since then, we also suspended all Federal food and nutrition program contracts with Hallmark/Westland Meat Packing Company. To date, Hallmark/Westland Meat Packing Company remains suspended by the Food Safety and Inspection Service. The products destined for the Federal food assistance programs, including the National School Lunch Program, will now be removed from schools and other holding facilities and destroyed.

I am dismayed at the inhumane handling of cattle that has resulted in the violation of food safety regulations at the Hallmark/Westland Meat Packing Company. It is extremely unlikely that these animals were at risk for BSE because of the multiple safeguards; however, this action is necessary because plant procedures violated USDA regulations.

In addition, our Office of the Inspector General and the Food Safety and Inspection Service continue the investigation. We will respond immediately if further findings warrant. Details about this recall and USDA actions are available at www.usda.gov/actions."

School lunch programs, Indian food programs, emergency food programs -- have these meat packers no ethics? And this recall covers the last TWO YEARS. Do they seriously think that there is any meat left from the from year?

It is a class 2 recall only because the non ambulatory animals have already been sold and eaten so they can not test for the disease that caused the illness so great as to fender the cows unable to walk.

In a way its like punishing the beef industry after they left the barn door open... to MCD.
