One a recent BBC television show chronicling the last days of George Melly, one of his friends reminded him of an old song they enjoyed, and quoted the lyrics as

We go from dust to dust they say
So don't chuck a brick,
It may be your Aunty May.

Has anyone any idea what the original song was?

We come from clay, and we all go back, they say
So don't 'eave a brick,
It might be your Aunty May.

from Leslie Sarony's AIN'T IT GRAND TO BE BLOOMING WELL DEAD !. The words on that site are close enough, but the verse structure is all wrong

And instead of

"Spend the insurance", I murmered, "For alack,"

I hear

Spend the insurance on merr'ment, for alack,
