22 Feb 08 - 08:23 AM (#2269422) Subject: BS: Dect phone with corded base station?? From: Mr Red UK phones only please. Joy's phone has finally succombed. It is a unique combination of corded handset that can dial out if there is no mains power. It also acts as a base station when powered. The DECT handset controls the answer machine. The model Binatone MD7250 (her defunct one) looks to be discontinued. Now does anyone know of a DECT phone or combo that allows you to dial out on phone line power only and can communicate with DECT handsets in normal use? Answer machine is not essential - I have a spare one that dials-out 1471 and records what the lady tells you and is still on sale!. Caller ID is not part of Joy's service and not part of simple answer machines neither. |

Argos list 2 flavours, "Concept" and "Speakeasy" each available with a corded base station and one or more DECT additional handsets. Answering machine available if required. They also show a Philips fax machine with a corded handset plus 2 DECT additionals, but it's a fair bit more dosh. |

(UK) From: GUEST,Mr Red on Joy's laptop (no jokes please) The BT diversity - and a Binatone one - unless you download the manual or ask a brain cell (plural) there is no way to tell if the corded handset can dial on phoneline power alone. As luck would have it I disconnected batteries and power and it works now. Albeit with an unusable LCD display. The BT phone has loads of features like reading (copy in both directions) SIM cards. Being a GAP phone it will register other GAP phones of any make. And usually up to 5 or six for these kind of phones |
