Someone mentioned Gillette blue blade jingles. I found one from the 50s: HERE oh, and THIS ONE!! which is 58 minutes long, listing all kinds of ads from the 50s and 60s! The one I went looking for, the Gillette one with a parrot, is included in the latter. |

They don't call me Mr. Lives in the Past for nothing! I'm sure I'll enjoy this. Please let us know if you find any Peter Pain ads. He was a green pickle, with whiskers, that would that would cause his victims to need BenGay ointment. |

I never heard of her. I wonder how long her career lasted. And the tag line, "Smoke Camels and sing" is a classic. Thanks, Kat, for bringing this up. |
28 Feb 08 - 05:43 PM (#2275199) Subject: RE: BS: Old ads/jingles on youtube From: Beer I received an e-mail yesterday with a poster that reads: "More Doctors smoke Camels than any other cigarettes" Wow! |

Even Barney and Fred got into it: Winston Break Jaysus! I don't remember this and it is one I will be sure my grandson NEVER sees...this is appalling now, looking back: Kids smoking in Salem ad Here's the opera star, Marguerite Piazza talking about how Camels agree with her "fruit!" I am sure she meant "throat" but that's NOT what it sounds like to me!**bg** Lucky for her, she is still alive! Just published her autobiography last year: During the 1950's, before the connection of cigarette smoking with cancer was widely accepted, Piazza was a paid spokeswoman for Camel cigarettes. She said that Camels had "a mildness that agree with my throat." In 1968, she endured three operations on her face to remove cancer, and, in 1973, she was treated for cervical and uterine cancer. Piazza is celebrated for her extensive efforts regarding various charities, especially the annual Marguerite Piazza Gala[1] and Auction for the benefit of St Jude Children's Research Hospital. On January 15, 1973, the Willis Music Company published "Marguerite Piazza's Christmas Carol Sing-Along Party." The prima donna's autobiography (co-authored with her daughter, Marguerite Bonnett) was published by Lulu in 2007, and is titled Pagliacci Has Nothing on Me! (ISBN 978-1-84728-394-8). |
