Mar 08 - 05:05 PM (#2295390) Subject: gower folk festival 2008 From: gower el bombero The unique Gower Folk Festival (June 13th 15th) promises to be one of the best yet so mudcatters thinking of sampling the music and its special atmosphere should secure their tickets soon. A full programme, and much more, can be seen and heard on www.halfpennyfolkclub.com Just thinking about the lovely coastal setting, the intimate atmosphere under the setting sun, the real ale, and the varied music and dancing makes it feel like Summer is already here. |

Really beautiful. I'm on the Sunday but I'll be coming down on Sat to see the Sultans, cos in spite of playing with Parky I've STILL not yet managed to catch them. Both Chris and JK are simply awesome alone - together, well, the mind boggles! Tom |

Mar 08 - 10:01 PM (#2296961) Subject: RE: gower folk festival From: Charley Noble I love the directions for finding the Festival: totally incomprehensible! If only they would provide longitude and latitude, we could locate this festival via Goggle Earth. Cheerily, Charley Noble, who has actually been to the end of the Gower Peninsula and survived. |

Mar 08 - 08:46 AM (#2297153) Subject: RE: gower folk festival From: Splott Man If you've time to spare, it's worth crossing the road (scroll south on the map), and walking down the estuary to the bay. There's the ruins of Pennard castle looking down on you, and the area behind (Sandy Lane) it is interesting, too. It's an old holiday camp that was taken over 30 or so years ago by squatters, who are now firmly established. Their horses will be on the common with their foals in June, lots of Aaah-factor. The Gower's my childhood stomping ground (I'm originally from Loughor), and your festival clashes with an Old Time festival at Angle Bay in the Pembrokeshire National Park, which I'm afraid I have to go to. 20 May 08 - 06:12 PM (#2345567) Subject: RE: gower folk festival From: Folkiedave It was intended that there would be a purveyor of previously-cherished folk books would be in attendance. However the moment I confirmed my presence at the festival - there was the local management informing me I was needed elsewhere. Hey ho! Have a good time and as well as Mary and Anahata take a look at Skyhook - for an up-and coming band you will see more of. And the rest of the wonderful guests. |

May 08 - 04:47 PM (#2350417) Subject: RE: gower folk festival From: Crane Driver Hi Saro - The schedules listed above show that the AUTHORISED Come-All-Ye on Saturday is from 12 noon to 1:00pm (noon to 2:00 on Sunday). We're also down to run a tune & song session in the Woollen Mill Friday evening (6 til 8) after which Tony (aka gower el bombero) will be running a Come-All-Ye session in the chapel (8 til 10:30). There's also a Big Sing in the chapel Sunday evening (6 til 7:30), but Saturday evening the chapel has a ceilidh. Shanty Jack is hosting a shanty workshop in the Mill from 4:00 to 5:30 Saturday. However, the woollen mill is available for singing when not specifically booked for a workshop, and there's other nooks and crannies around the site, so make contact when you arrive and we'll see what we can set up. Andrew & Carole |
