After months of being in the snow, I have cabin fever.
Does anyone have stories of their favorite beach vacation?

I have a definite weakness for beach vacations. perhaps my all-time favorite beach moment was skinny-dipping in warm Carribean water in Saint Martin, under a full moon, the evening of our 9th anniversary.

I have had beach vacations in Mexico, Belize, El Salvador, Hawaii and California. I'm thinking about trying a new location, which is why I started this thread. hmmmmm.... Saint Martin

Ocean Grove, NJ.   Quiet solitude, a sense of history, nice community, clean beach. Good times with my family.

Of all the beaches I've vacationed on, the one near Tulum on the Yucatan I think stand above all.

The sand was like powdered sugar, the water clear turquoise, the people wonderful.

I'm not really a devotee of beach holidays and by far pefer mountains, lakes, rivers and forests.

A memorable holiday however was spent in an Hebridean Blackhouse converted to a small hostel on the edge of the Machair a type of sand dune pasture formed from fragmented shells and rich in wild flowers.

When my 35-yr-old son was about ten, we camped at Patrick's Point State Park in Northern California. As we walked along an agate beach, we saw a whale in the water, about twenty-five yards out. As we walked along the beach, it seemed to be aware of us, swimming alongside us for a good fifteen minutes.

Another time, we rented a house not far from Mendocino, California. As my son and I walked along a cliff over a secluded beach in the eraly evening, we saw five or six deer playing in the surf.

I don't think I'll ever forget those two walks I had with my son.
