Lyr Req: Two Heads (Jefferson Airplane)

I know this is not a blues or folk question but you mudcatters are a knowledgeable lot in all fields of music. I have looked up the lyric for "Two Heads" on google and there are lots of sites giving the same lyric. However they all only give the words that Grace Slick sings. But what is it that Maty Balin and/or Paul Kantner are singing in the background to a counter melody? Something about "reflections .. Dream .." can't make it out even on the headphones. It's bothered me for over 35 years!

joni mitchell sings one about taking the british bus with two levels and talks (sings) about there being no driver on the top..it ends with two heads are better than one...(what are those busses called??)
i think bobert has (or had) one in his back yard once..used it as an office or guest room??

Double Deckers or Routemasters - come on surely one of you knows the JA lyric!

The Routemaster was only one variety of Doubledecker - there've been other versions before and after it. (Though it was a great bus.)

Hey, I thought I posted this a little while ago! Here it is again--

Anyway, I've always loved that album, bought it with birthday money when it came out in '67 and drove friends and family crazy with it. I have always heard the line that Marty sings as--"Reflections in the door of a green Volkswagen". I even think that the lyrics for this one were on the record sleeve--though I can't check because my vinyl collection is packed away. http://www.jeffersonstarshipsf.com/catjs/01jabab.htm shows the lines a little differently (posted below), but A) They seem grammatically awkward and B)It sounds like he is singing what I've posted, not what they've posted.

Anyway, in memory, the music was full of psychedelic sounds, but listening today, there are virtually no effects, and it sounds "live" in a way you don't hear anymore. Thanks for making me listen again--"That's where I wanted to go today."

TWO HEADS (G. Slick)
Want two heads on your body
And you've got two mirrors in your hand.
Priests are made of brick with gold crosses on a stick
And your nose is too small for this land.
(Marty: Reflections from a door of a green Volkswagen)
Inside your head is your town
Inside your room your jail
(Marty: Reflections from a door of a green Volkswagen)
Inside your mouth the elephant's trunk
(Marty: Reflections from a...)
And booze, the only key to your bail.
Two heads can be put together.
And you can fill both your feet with sand.
No one will know you've gutted your mind
But what will you do with your bloody hands?
(Marty: Reflections from a door of a green Volkswagen)
Your lions are fighting with chairs
Your arms are incredibly fat;
(Marty: Reflections from a door of a green Volkswagen)
Your women are tired of dying alive
(Marty: Reflections from a...)
If you've had any women at that.
Wearing your comb like an ax in your head
List'ning for signs of life;
Children are sucking on stone and lead
And chasing their hoops with a knife;
(Marty: Reflections from a door of a green Volkswagen)
New breasts and jewels for the girl,
Keep them polished and shining;
(Marty: Reflections from a door of a green Volkswagen)
Put a lock on her belly at night, sweet life,
(Marty: Reflections from a...)
For no child of mine.
Want two heads on your a a body,
And you've got two mirrors in your ha-a-a-a-and-a;

Thanks MTed - I have the UK viny l bought later (1972 I think) which didn't have the lyric. Surrealistic Pillow, After Bathing At Baxter's and Crown Of Creation are all classic psychedelic albums - for me, no other band captured the LSD experience better than this!

The song, perhaps a an alternate version can also be found on the retrospective CD set Jefferson Airplane Love You.
My favortie band of all time, they did arrangments more akin to jazz than most rock bands, voices, instruments coming forward, moving back, changing places or coming forward together. The negelected Best Band of the late 60's early 70's. IMHO

Funny thing that the tracks "She Has Funny Cars" abd "Plastic Fantastic Lover" were both ommited from the original UK release of Surrealistic Pillow and substituted with tracks from the first "Takes Off" album even including a track which featured original vocalist Signe Tole Anderson. The cover however pictured Grace Slick! I never got to hear the studio versions of these tracks until the 1980s!

Hmmm... Could be the song means exactly what it says, as in, "I'm having teouble seeing because of the sun reflected FROM a window in the building across the street." Maybe she isn't referring to an image reflected IN the door at all.
