Sad news indeed. Here for more details.

The "fifth Beatle" - very sorry to hear it. He always struck me as a completely decent, down-to-earth, totally unselfish bloke. Article finishes with:

Virtually alone among Beatles insiders, he resisted the temptation to publish his memoirs, but joked that if he did write them, he would arrange to have them published only after his death. He is not known to have undertaken the project.

Guess we'll never have his first-hand story now. R.I.P.

Yes Bonnie.
Without Mr Aspinall holding hard to the reigns of the ridiculous Apple empire for many years, we would not have heard or seen the enourmous archive that was the Beatles.
His passing will only be mourned by afficionados, I'm sure.
But nonetheless, it has always been people like Neil that helped to preserve material that would otherwise have been lost forever.
May he rest in peace, and thanks for all the work.

He was a man, who was constantly loyal, in a business in which that can't be taken for granted. May he rest in peace.

What everybody already said. RIP Neil.
BTW So many of the "Beatle people" have gone. George Martin is still active in music, but "Norman Smith, producer, died recently and I believe another roadie and friend Mal Evans was killed some years ago. fB

Mal Evans was shot dead by the LA Police, I believe, after an incident. The story is here.

God, you couldn't make it up!

Evans was shot and killed by police on 5 January 1976 in his rented duplex in Los Angeles, because police officers mistakenly believed that the air gun Evans was holding was a rifle. Evans was cremated on 7 January 1976 in Los Angeles, and his ashes were sent by post back to England but were misplaced and lost in the postal system.
