16 May 99 - 04:49 PM (#78940) Subject: Scottish Song From: rdrcons@aol.com I am seeking lyrics to a song titled, "Think On Me." It was included in recitals performed by Mezzo Soprano, Nan Merriman, in the 1960s and was recorded by Thomas L. Thomas, Star of the Firestone Hour on Radio on an album of Songs from Scotland. Thanks, Doug |

Please remember, when you start a thread it is best to include the title of the song or lyrics you know, in the title of the thread. It saves time and that way people can read the title and know exactly what you are looking for right away. |

I just stumbled upon this site while surfing this afternoon, and don't know the rules. Thanks, too, for advising me. The lead that you gave me, unfortunately, is not the song I am seeking. You were very nice to reply though. Doug

16 May 99 - 07:15 PM (#78981) Subject: RE: Scottish Song From: katlaughing You are welcome, Doug and WELCOME! Sorry it wasn't the one you are looking for. And, sorry if I sounded a little short. A lot of newbies post generic thread titles, such as "looking for song" and it makes it time-consuming and annoying to wade through them. At least you had the good sense to identify the country it came from! That is what caught my eye.**smile** can you give us anymore information. Is it an old song? Do you know who the original artist or composer was? Here is another link, for rare and old songs from Ireland, Scotland and England. I hope it helps: Scarce Songs Come back, often, This is the best community of cyber-phoaks on the Net or in the world! katlaughing |

17 May 99 - 01:15 AM (#79067) Subject: RE: Scottish Song From: jean I don't know if this will help but it's sung by Anne Lorne Gillis on a CD called "The Hills of Lorne". The CD says it's by ______ Scott. If no one else comes up with the words I'll try to listen and write them down for you. I may not understand them all, tho. I think it starts out, "When I no more behold thee, think on me." Is that the right song? |

17 May 99 - 12:26 PM (#79163) Subject: RE: Scottish Song From: rdrcons@aol.com Thank you, Kat and Jean! Kat for trying, and Jean for having the information I was looking for. Jean, isn't "Think on Me" a lovely song? That's the one I was looking for, and don't bother trying to copy the lyrics. I'm going to order "The Hills of Lorne." Do you suppose it is available through Amazon.com, or do you know another more likely source? I spent most of yesterday afternoon reading threads on this site, and I am so happy I found it! The people seem so warm and friendly. As soon as I have observed some more, I may try to participate in some of the discussions. Kat, just one comment related to something I saw yesterday. You mentioned the reluctance of symphony orchestra conductors to program new works. I spent a major portion of my career managing symphony orchestras, and you are absolutely right. I can assure you, though, that it is usuallly not the fault of the music directors. I think they would like to program more modern music, but the public is very slow to accept new classical music, and it's box office that helps to make the "wheels go round" with any symphony organization. Thanks, again, to both of you! Doug

07 Feb 05 - 04:42 PM (#1401873) Subject: RE: Scottish Song From: GUEST When I no more behold thee, By all thine eyes have told me, Think on me. When hearts are lightest, When eyes are brightest, When griefs are slightest, Think on me. In all thine hours of gladness, If e'er I soothed thy sadness, When foes are by thee, When woes are nigh thee, When friends all fly thee, Think on me. When thou hast none to cheer thee, When no fond heart is near thee, When lonely sighing, O'er pleasure flying, When hope is dying, Think on me. |
