We leave Shanghai on the 4th April and move to Perth WA. The cats get flown to Singapore on the 28th March for their first load of quarantine and checks. Poor things have to be in Singapore for 5 months and yet another month in Aus for more quarantine. It is chaos here at the moment as there are boxes and rubbish everywhere. The bin rummagers are doing very well as I make regular trips to ditch the crap I have accumulated here. Here's a question. Any Catters live in Perth and what is the local music scene like? I do not want to loose what I have had here in Shanghai. Been really good years of regular playing and meeting some good people. |

One could argue that Shanghai is also "on the other side of the world" from a lot of us. The main problem I see for him in this move is that they're going to have an entire year of winter this year. Actually that was done for us by a removals company, but we had to be around to make sure what was goig to be shipped got shipped. Jade's parents turned up to add to the confusion and I had to make sure they did not get wrapped, packed and shipped. We then moved into a hotel while the export docs were sorted out with Chinese Customs and finally flew out on Friday 4th to Singapore. I had some meetings but we also wanted to see the two cats who are in Quarantine. One month full quarantine, 5 months in a cattery (but Jade has other ideas) and then another month on arrival in Aus' Jade was both happy and upset at seeing the cats in their quarantine area. Nice enough but as they say 'no room to swing a cat' Looks like Jade will desert me for a couple of months and go and stay with friends in Singapore when the cats get released and they can do a homestay. Naturally some small things did not get shipped and Jade found them..we ended up with I think a total of 70Kgs of luggage. Luckily she mentioned they were wood on the declaration and we then got thoroughly checked by the Customs here. We are in a rental at the moment, but yesterday we made and offer, which was accepted for a house on the north side of Perth in an area called Clarkson. We hope to be in there by 27th May. Good garden with fencing, I hope the cats take to WA wildlife...they will probably take it to our door... Thanks for the info on the local contacts Sandra. I will follow up.
