31 Mar 08 - 11:43 AM (#2302077) Subject: Captain Birdseye (John Hewer/ From: GUEST,Andy O.K don't panic, its not our well-known and respected 'Cap'n Birdseye', Dick Miles. He was alive and well when he gave us a great night at Kiveton Park Folk Club last week. The Times, on Saturday, announced the death of John Hewer, famous for playing Cap'n Birdseye in th T.V adverts. According to the report, in a 1993 poll, Hewer was voted the most recognised 'naval captain' after James Cook. However, this begs the question, will our own Mudcat 'Cap'n Birdseye' have to consider a change of his Mudcat handle with the passing of the figure after which he named himself? Isn't it illegal to represent a dead person? Thanks for a good night Dick. Regards Andy |

Sorry for shouting - you never saw anyone get a webpage open so fast. Yes I knew about the TV Captain B - Wikipedia makes for some interesting reading: WikiClicki Anyway, doesn't Col. Sanders outrank him? I was going to ask the clones to please amend the thread title, but I see that it's been done in the time it took me to type this - Yes, Bonnie. One of us altered the thread title. I also went back and changed the title on each post so it doesn't come up so scary. Future posts will have the right title. |
