05 Apr 08 - 04:33 AM (#2307207) Subject: RE: Friday Night at the NCEM York From: stallion Well wasn't that something special, the acustics were fabulous. We were singing without a PA and the sound was incredible. The audience seemed pleases with it but from a performers perspective it was amazing, not only could I pick out all our three voices but the chords resonating back from the walls and sound boards was something else. The Young Coppers were "The Copper Family" and we were treated to a snippet of family history amongst the songs from their famous songbook, altogether a really enjoyable evening. The session in the Tap after was buzzing too, pity non of the Young guests made it I think they would have loved it. |

05 Apr 08 - 04:45 AM (#2307216) Subject: RE: Friday Night at the NCEM York From: Folkiedave I agree about the acoustics - let's hope we see more of that. And the whole thing was brilliant. I don't know how reassuring it was but I recorded a bit of the acoustics check (!!) and played it back to them when they were looking a bit anxious about the (for lack of a better word) "reverb". "We sound like a choir" they said. And so they did. TBSAAS were superb - mightily impressed with them too. Great to see you all. The Tap was a bit too crowded when I got there so I went - but the Irish Piper was something else. And great to see so many musicians. Best regards, Dave |
