A new festival is about to be unleashed on the UK folkies, this one called Evolve and based in Lodmoor Park, Weymouth, Dorset, UK. Even better, this is organised by local young folk. It clashes with Warwick unfortunately, as it runs on the 25th & 26th July, so as I'm booked at Warwick I am sort of cutting my own throat advertising it, but I can't help wanting to support the youngsters.

They are asking for volunteer stewards, so if you are interested email lucy@evolvefestival.co.uk.

As for their lineup: Headlining Friday night will be Lou Rhodes, 3 Daft Monkeys, Mawkin:Causley, Kerfuffle, Nick Wyke & Becki Driscoll, Pronghorn, Oddur, Not Made in China, Thinker, Competition runners up. Headlining Saturday night are Show of Hands with Miranda Sykes, Megson, Tim Van Eyken, Reg Meuross & Jackie Oates, 5th Quarter, James Findlay, Landermason, Bob Kirkpatrick, competition winners, Daniel Honey,Tom Dale. There will also be a smaller marquee which will also have a stage and within this marquee there will be performers, workshops and sessions.

Thanks for the heads-up George. I won't be offering to Steward, but as we're (probably) not going to Warwick this year we may just pop along to have a look at this one!

It's slap in the middle of grockle season down there so the best bet is to park in Dorchester and get the train down. From the railway station, it's a goodly walk or a bus ride. Go to the sea and turn left. B&B accommodation is always at a premium in Weymouth, so book early if you intend going. Personally, I'd stay elsewhere and commute in, but be warned, the last train is probably going to be long before most things finish.

Don't mention rabbits.

And I've a funny feeling I knew James Findlay before he was born....
