Mark Roman & the Javelins

I wonder if anyone knows the whereabouts of the ex-members of Mark Roman and the Javelins. Mark Roman (Mike Tucker), Steve Rice, Geoff Coles and John Curry.

They were the musicians who performed in the Lockleaze passion play 'A Man Dies' at the Colston Hall, Bristol in 1966.

A reunion is being held in May of this year and we would like to invite them to the event.

thanks to the reunion at locklease this year mark roman and the javelins were on stage together for the first time in over 40 years and were a huge success after 6 numbers had to return for an enchore which was a good solid version of buddy hollies peggy sue, what a remarkable breath of fresh air.

I do like a story with a happy ending.

Mark Roman

There used to be a DJ on Radio London(266) called Mark Roman.
I don't suppose there's any connection?

it was so enjoyable to go back to the 60s, recently at a birthday party in bristol where the javelins performed. to hear them after so long brought back so many happy memories, they have every reason to carry on entertaining just like the old days, more of the same please. thanks so much.

I dont think there is any connection between the DJ FROM London. The Javelins were all lads from Bristol who performed many venues during the mid to late 60s.

The real name of Radio London DJ Mark Roman was Graham Wallace and he has no connection with this band. Tony Blackburn was already a well-established DJ on Caroline when he decided to jump ship to Radio London, but management wanted him to change his name to Mark Roman and wear a toga. Tony refused and Wimbledon Palais DJ Graham Wallace was selected to wear the toga. Tony joined Big L some months later when management finally saw the sense of allowing him to keep his own name.

These days, Mark lives in Spain.

well well , we never realised how much jealousy was circulating around the current bristol pop scene, everyone knows C FLAT, and the groups he is associating with. A lot less sarcasm, and plenty more rehearsing and he would not be warbalinng about parsnips, or was it walking boots . oh, and a little personality wouldnt hurt.
