Ballad of John Axon; Transcription

About 1965 or 66 a folk magazine published a transcription of the Ballad of John Axon. It might have gone over two issues and might have been published to coincide with the release of Axon on Argo Records.

Can anybody remember what the magazine was called and which edition it was in?

Many thanks.

Only 19 mins? I've got the whole glorious 58.07 mins! (must be a technical thing)

Hi, Fred - Bob Bolton posted a lengthy transcription in this thread. As in many of the Radio Ballads, you're never quite certain that they perform the whole song in the radio program, and you're left wondering if you missed part of it.

I have a tape of this, that I made from the radio programme. Somewhere in the clutter that is my tape collection :)

Thanks fellas but I'm to determine thye name of the magazine which published the transcription of the entire programme, not the programme itself. I already have a recording of that.

I assume you are not including me in the "fellas".
The Charles Parker Archive (situated on the 7th floor of Birmingham City Library) will presumably have a copy of the mag.
There's a link to the "Friends of Charles Parker" in the site linked to above.
As they say archiving is almost complete, I imagine someone will know the answer to your question.

Just catching up on some of the Radio Ballad stuff I've missed while writing the Radio Ballad book. By the end of May I shall have every one of the 8 programmes' transcriptions on the www.setintosong.co.uk website. That's as on the Topic CDs - The Ballad of John Axon was actually broadcast as a 45-min cut-down programme originally. Peter.
