Deb - see SINSULL'S thread 'A Star Is Born'.

That thread was rather over the top, IMHO, but we did good.

The whole thing was just amazing. Where else could you get Gordon Bok, Michael Cooney, Scott Alarik, Kendall Morse, Jay Peterson and a number of others on the same bill for a suggested $10 donation? There was even a phone call to Utah and he spoke to the audience for about ten minutes part way through.

We had to leave before it finished - it was about a four hour drive each way, but I wouldn't have missed it for anything.

Jay sent an email saying that, although they hadn't counted the cash yet, they had a wad, 3 inches thick, of tens, twenties and cheques. That means that there will be a tidy sum going to Utah, which will be a help to him and Joanna.

Excerpt from Linda Alen's newsletter:

"In other news, I'll be participating in two benefits for our beloved Utah Phillips. His illness is preventing his being able to travel to perform, and as all of us who have done this trade know, this is a drastic setback. Medical bills have been high. So please come out and support Utah. If you don't know his work, check out his music on ITunes, or visit his web site. He's truly one of the finest, funniest performers and songwriters I know. Here are some details:
