From: Amos Only when they build the optical connections to civilian users; this is not easy, especially the "last mile" from backbone to domicile. And it is not cheap. Some companies have already done it, but their fiber has stayed dark for years since they put it in. Even with the much faster and wider-bandwidth capabilities of fiber, you will still be running an Internet; but it will gradually move up to ahigher order of speed as more and more twisted-pair or coax channels presently in use get replaced by fibr optic. Another reason this is a good thing is less cross talk and interference. A |

I have a suspicion that what we'll end up with is a much fast and more powerful system, but one in which everything we do will be -deleted by the authorities- and -deleted by the authorities- in ways that the current set-up doesn't permit. |
