New Ozcatter - quokka

quokkas are one of the sights of Rottnest Island, off the coast from Perth - one of the early Dutch explorers thought they were rats which is why he named the island Rat nest island!

Anyone who choses the name quokka must be an excellent person.

welcome, quokka!

Welcome, Quokka.
Since you say you love folk, and talking about it, why not start your very first thread and ask 'what IS folk music?'

Everybody here loves discussing it too!

All the best.

Seamus

G'day quokka,

Patricia and I finally got over from Sydney to the western side - last October to visit Pat's neice Tracey and her family. We went over on the ferry to Rottnest Island and just about had to fight off the tame quokkas intent on sharing our meal!

It was not all that long after we came back that there was a newspaper story of a football side (having one of these "team-bonding" exercises, so popular today ...) having spent some time tossing the harmless quokkas around as if they were footballs! Lots of cover-ups ... and denials from the footie boofheads ... and eyewitness accounts from tourists. It's a pity the little blighters don't bite ... these louts could do with a dose of quokka shokka!

Reagrds,

Bob

There's no quokkas in Armidale but there's the occasional quoll.

G'day to you, quokka! Pull up a stump and enjoy yourself.

Cheers, Rowan
