Labrador Rose I ventured a walk one early May morning, With the dew on the ground, as the sunshine it beamed; I spied a wild rose growing there on the mountain, My heart skipped a beat for this vision I seen. In the flower I saw the face of my darling, The petals, her hair and the perfume, her smile; The stem of the rose was her body so slender, As it reached out for life in the rich mountain soil.
