He made LSD that was virtually free from impurities, most of the home-made stuff from other sources was poor quality. Stanley also had a great ear for music and was the recording engineer on Old and In the Way. Helped design the huge JBL-based scaffold sound system. He lives in Australia now. |

30 Apr 08 - 12:40 PM (#2329868) Subject: RE: BS: OBIT: Albert Hoffman, father of LSD, 102 From: PoppaGator Once, only once, I was able to acquire some Sandoz acid straight from Switzerland. My source later proved to be a CIA operative trying to penetrate our bunch of Christian-pacifist draft resisters. The difference from run-of-the-mill street acid was immense and indescribable. (Well, of course, everything about any LSD experience is basically indescribably ~ this is one case where the old phrase "you had to be there" is truly applicable.) I was later privileged to sample some Owsley product, which was indeed quite excellent, but the pure Sandoz was absolutley incomprable. RIP Dr Hoffmann. |

From Abbie, oops, I mean Albert's web page... Throughout history people have used mind-expanding substances to explore consciousness and enhance their lives. Our purpose at the Albert Hofmann Foundation is to gather the records of these endeavors and to further the understanding and responsible application of psychedelic substances in the investigation of both individual and collective consciousness. Dr. Albert Hofmann, on the occasion of celebrating the 50th anniversary of his famous bicycle ride: "You, my dear friends, and millions all over the world who now commemorate the 50th birthday of ergot's child, we all testify gratefully that we got valuable help on the way to what Aldous Huxley said is the end and the ultimate purpose of human life--enlightenment, beatific vision, love. I think all these joyful testimonies of invaluable help by LSD should be enough to convince the health authorities, finally, of the nonsense of the prohibition of LSD and of similar psychedelics." Here is a you tube video about LSD and Albert's bicycle ride. |
