Those of us fortunate to have been in the Ring o Bells in St Issys on the evening of May Day had the wonderful pleasure of hearing a few songs from the Fab Four. Charlie, Cathy,Dave and Annie sang together for the first time in about 15 years The atmosphere was electric and very emotional.
The old harmonies were there as was the power. Thank you.
It has been suggested that a plaque be made to commemorate the event and fixed in the Bar, the landlord who is also a lovely singer. is keen

Those who are older will also realise that Regalia sang together shortly afterwards in the same session for the first time since before Beggar's Velvet formed.

It would be wonderful if Charlie Yarwood was making a return to the folk scene. His marvellous voice always sent shivers down my spine.

Oh, what a treat! Send them out here to Northern California, willya?
I see their CD is not currently available at Amazon in the U.S. (but CAMSCO has it). I'm glad I got a copy.

The band - Beggars Velvet (1985 - 1993) - were Anni Fentiman, Dave Webber, Cathy Yarwood and Charley Yarwood.

Actually, one of the best things about the Ringers over May was having the Real Old Nick with us!

Methinks that should be Old Nic - spelling was never doc.tom's strong point!

Yes b marvellous - one of my memories of Whittlebury is trying to get to sleep whilst they were singing in the farmyard - needless to say I didn't, oh and MCing when they were guests at the Stratford (London)folk Club - the good old days

No it was in 1990, 'cos we lived at Chadwell Heath then, went to Blackmore on Mondays and Stratford on Fridays (I think). A group of us started up Romford Folk Club, which originally was at Hornchurch!
I can't remember the name of the Stratford pub but it was an 'Irish' pub, not the themed type! the function room was upstairs and I think they booked guests monthly otherwise it was singers' nights.
Some of the organisers were Steve Brown, Steve Head and Dave West oh and another Steve.
