12 May 08 - 12:35 PM (#2338437) Subject: BS: I need to write to G Hackman but can't From: Donuel My second cousin Gene Hackman has retired this month and I would like to tell him about his childhood friend, my father. The problem is contact info seems to be selling for $200. I have never contacted my cousin nor would I suspect that he knows me. I am concerned that time is now short. I am hoping that there is 6 degrees of seperation that might help me at least get a letter to him. I have already spent 4 hours trying to obtain any kind of contact info. This is not a family emergency but all the same it would be a kind thing to do before it is too late. |

12 May 08 - 12:45 PM (#2338450) Subject: RE: BS: I need to write to G Hackman but can't From: Donuel Yes, even his publicist or agent info would cost $197 on these contact info sites. They require a year's membership with the come on that the first week costs only $1. I would hate to get suckered. |

12 May 08 - 12:48 PM (#2338453) Subject: RE: BS: I need to write to G Hackman but can't From: Amos I am sure CAA has a street address, and an evelope addressed to Mister Spektor there would be delivered to him. That costs the price of a first-class stamp. A |

12 May 08 - 12:49 PM (#2338455) Subject: RE: BS: I need to write to G Hackman but can't From: Donuel Thanks Melissa. I will try that. I used to get my haricut from Leonard Nimoy's father in Dorcheste Mass. and was in the shop the day when Leonard landed a TV job on Mission Impossible. The conversation and fathery pride that day might be something that Leonard would like to hear but alas contact info for celebreties is well guarded for good reason. |

Good deeds are not profitable so I am skepical that any message will get through, but at least I will not feel guilty for not trying. |

The first one appears to (maybe?) have a home address..second a fan mail/CAA address. They've got hokey looking names--but would only cost a couple stamps to try? http://celebritiesfans.com/showCELEB.php?celebID=1232 http://www.fanmail.biz/424.html |

12 May 08 - 01:07 PM (#2338472) Subject: RE: BS: I need to write to G Hackman but can't From: Grab To quote Amos:- I am sure CAA has a street address, and an evelope addressed to Mister Spektor there would be delivered to him. In approximately 10 seconds on Google, I found:- http://www.caatouring.com/Default.aspx?Page=contact Type "Creative Artists Agency" into Google, get their website, look up their contact info. Doesn't take $200, doesn't take 200 *seconds* even. Why ever would you think that you needed his agent's home address? Do you ring your accountant at home, or at his/her office...? Graham. |

12 May 08 - 03:20 PM (#2338597) Subject: RE: BS: I need to write to G Hackman but can't From: Donuel gnu, I only meant that Gene is now retired and long in the tooth. As for dad I only spoke to him twice in my adult life and even then I had to contact him. As for relatives in common, I was the first born from a prior marriage and they want nothing to do with me or anyone that they might percieve as a threat to the estate. This situation may not be common as a result of all divorces but maybe it is. I suspect my 5 half siblings feel they have only something to lose if they were ever to contact me. Maybe after the will can not be contested by a statue of limitations they might one day talk to me. Who knows, maybe it would take Gene to unite a family that might be less aware than I have speculated. |

His last film was "Welcome to Mooseport," which came out in 2004. |

14 May 08 - 08:25 PM (#2340815) Subject: RE: BS: I need to write to G Hackman but can't From: GUEST,Chicken Charlie Donuel-- If this is for real, how about contacting the Screen Actors' Guild, explaining the situation and just asking if they would pass a message. Don't even ask for contact info. If they do that, it's up to GH if he remembers and wants to respond. Agents, as a general class to which there are no doubt saintly exceptions, are sweaty, cigar-chomping people whose aim in life it to profit by someone else's talent. They have probably heard stories like this before from people, whom they automatically suspect of being as mercenary as themselves. That's my cynical view of humanity. But I wouldn't go the agent route, or not with any confidence. If this is not for real, I'm with Spaw. That's the agent side of me speaking. CC |

14 May 08 - 10:37 PM (#2340891) Subject: RE: BS: I need to write to G Hackman but can't From: Ebbie I'm not disbelieving that Gene Hackman is your second cousin, Donuel, but as a rule second cousins are easily traced. One of your second cousin's parents is first cousin to one of your parents, and of course a first cousin has a parent who is a sibling of your parent. It is far more difficult to trace more distant relatives. Although it can be done. I'll never forget the day that a man knocked at my door with a huge volume under his arm and subsequently showed me that we were fifth cousins. The Amish are notorious for keeping track of bloodlines. |
