will try to make it agan this year-David Swann joined the Hissyfit gig in Robin Hoods Bay on Friday and we backed him on a couple of his songs-great great songwriter-the last laugh was had by us as we drove passed him as he walked up the 75% incline-nearly killed him!!! Looking forward to listening to some great local acts.

ah "free and easy session" probably refers to a format which is not unsimiliar to the tap and spile on a friday night, with musos and singers sharing a session

Thanks GeorgeH, hadn't put 2 and 2 together to work out that the Black Swan IS the venue!.

I'll try to get there for the Saturday evening - unfortunately "real life" will invade the Sunday and prevent me staying over. Shame.

Quite fancy a good play this weekend, haven't had one since Brigg fiddle fest. Can I take it that the Bowes room and the Wolfe room are in the Black Swan? Does it get very crowded on the Saturday lunchtime? I'll be there for about twelve - hope a few others will do the early bird shift.
It's my first time playing in York, though I have had the pleasure of playing with Mr Jarey (Sp?) at a ceilidh. I understand this is his home territory, hope to twang a few chords to his concertina tunes.
See you there
Lawrie

The two rooms are in the Black Swan. The session room is pretty much packed from start to well into the evening but especially 12 - 5. Solid wall to wall tunes. I'd guess 10-15 fiddles, similar number of mandos, assorted guitars, one bass player (!), assorted boxes and concertinas. Good fun and I'll probably be there myself at some time to strum a chord or two or create a bit of chaos as I practice my mandolin (the music is loud enough that I won't be heard)

Michael is a cracking player though I'm not sure if I have particularly seen him in the sessions on the folk day there over the last few years - I think he fets involved with sound and stuff.

Nick, my dear fellow, we were hoping you and "'er indoors" would be helping out in the singaround. It is Michael Jary, on his little squeezy thing. I shall look forward to renewing aquaintences' and meeting new folk. Any Mudcatters please do introduce yourselves. (let you puzzle out how to find me!)
