I spent a nice evening several years ago at the Dalbeattie Folk Club . Looks like it's still going - that may be a possibility.

Hi Ged/ Fantum

There is a flute player that I know that live further into Galloway . Can't remember exactly where - nearer New Galloway I think. I know that he organises sessions. Have been meaning to go up for ages but lack of time and public transport has put me off. If you pm me I will put you in touch.

Have fun

J

You might try contacting the guys who run www.tradmusic.com . They are in Galloway, I think, or at least not far from there. They would know what's on. Billy Jones runs the site - I'm sure there is a 'contact' e-mail address.

Not till August, I know, but the title of the thread may mean folks in that area
(or heading for it at some point) might be interested in...
The Border Gathering
There's music on (not featured on the website yet)
represented from USA to Ireland and more)
- plus all that highland games type-thing (only in the lowlands!)

The Duncan McFarlane Band (a mix of Scottish & English representatives!) will rock out their folk-rock electric stuff for one thing!
- as part of a wee mini tour in fact - that week playing Thurs eve in Kirkcudbright, Fri eve in Dumfries and Sun aft at the Border Gathering! More on that later....

Have a look at the website - there may be links to other D & G area events too - cheers!

I'm pretty sure Dalbeattie club has passed away. Maybe Annan still happens. I never knew when that was on unless I was already there for something else. Sometimes the Lochside Theatre in Castle Douglas has concerts. I enjoyed some September weekends at Crocketford but they are no more. Let me know if you find something! John Wilson

Well I was astonished. I turned up to Shawhead tonight and it was basically a full house. Nancy and James were fantastic, so if you are in the area, go seem them at Colvend or Moffat.
