Anyone know what Mary Clancy is like? I get fussed if someone tries to teach me battering (dyslexic feet) |

18 May 08 - 08:04 AM (#2343493) Subject: RE: Set dance teachers From: GUEST,Jim Martin Mary Clancy's a very good set dance teacher, I've been to her local classes in the Winter, she's very patient but at the same time, gets through the figures remarkably quickly. Beginners might find her a bit fast but I'm sure they would get the hang of it quickly because she's so clear with her instructions. Timmy (the Brit) McCarthy is good fun, he definitely doesn't take things too seriously and you have the added benefit (or did, anyway) of him playing live for the dancers with his box! Larry Lynch has done a fantastic job notating the dances he collected in his book 'The Set Dances of Ireland', but, because they are fully detailed, it can make reading difficult. I had to make my own abreviated notes from the book notations, but that in itself, I found quite a task! |
