This is me, the tall one isn't me. The Club is The Mayflower Folk Club, (Portland Arms, Tuesday Nights). I can't claim to be that impressed by this years line-up but Sunday looks good. (John Tams Band, Kate (sigh) Rusby).

The folk club at Letchworth is fairly new, my husband runs it & so far we have had Martin Wyndham-Read, Jez Lowe, & this Friday it is The MacCalmans. Basically it's on the 4th Friday of every month. There will be a break for July & Aug, when most clubs close. We started it up to try & get in more traditional artists, it's getting known that's the difficulty. There's also a very good session on the 4th Wednesday of every month (ie tomorrow) at The Greyhound pub, St Ippollyts (just outside Hitchin on the Codicote Road). This encompasses a range of instruments (fiddle, concertina, accordian. melodeon, bodhran, guitars, hammer dulcimer, bouzouki etc etc) & singing too. It's run by Barry Goodman, who is half of Life & Times & also a member of Time of Your Life. It's a very friendly session. Our phone number is 01462 438373 if you want to get in contact with us. There, they say that confession is good for the soul and I feel a lot better now I'm, "out". It started by accident I was in a pub and somehow got dragged into it (Press Ganged, more like). Been doing it 26 years now, it's ruined my life, never did get to be chief Exec. of ICI, or M.P. for Castleford. I might have been, you know!! But once they found out about my "habit" then they backed off and selected others over me. I'm not bitter, and now I'm too set in my ways to change. I take things a day at a time. I,ve not danced at all today yet. Just 2 hours and the day will be over. If you see a bunch of old men with Royal Blue velvet Knee Britches calling themselves the Wrigley Head North West Morris Men, Have pitty and buy us beer, were too old, week willed and addle brained to change. The beer will help us to forget the pain of the knackered knees, broken wind and the memory of how life used to be before we became slaves to this vile addiction.
