it reminds me of a song I wrote, called Crossed Lines.

Crossed Lines
(Dick Miles)

Hello operator I cannot get through.
I want Seaton Deleval not Seaton Carew.
can you find me a line to Newcastle on Tyne
all the lines are engaged I'm a bit short of time

2.Not Newcastle under Lyme, Ashton under Lyne
the story line the time line or any other line.
I'm parked on yellow lines,and I don't want a fine
please find me a line to Newcastle on Tyne

3.Hello operator I cannot get through
the code that I'm using is 0632
I keep hearing strange noises, which sound very rude
it seems like old Busby's been at the home brew.

4.as my call was connected,I tried once again.
can you book me a holiday away from the rain.
a voice said we can sir if you feel so inclined
but this is the prison not a place to unwind

5.I breathed a deep sigh as she put through my call.
can you book me a holiday away from it all.
a voice said we can sir with full bed and board.
but it's on the cold side for this is the morgue.

6.I begged the young man to find me the line
the number I want is triple three two six nine
he asked me to hold for what seemed like an age
then went off to lunch while I simmered with rage

7. just then a voice said is there anyone there?
its like waiting for Godot, I am just going spare.
I said where are you she replied in New York.
Our lines must be crossed so let's have a talk

8.so we talked then for hours and we got on just fine
that were meeting next week for supper and wine
So here's to crossed lines and the strange twist of fate.
that got me a holiday and also a date.

Yes..my friends wife was in a maternity hospital having triplets and he had to be elsewhere but kept phoning......having been told one had arrived he waited five minutes and phoned again but unfortunately got the Cricket Club instead.
He asked "Is there any more news"? and the guy at the club said:-

"Yes mate...they're all out and the last one was a duck"!!!!

OK OK so it was a joke!

Peace: A duck in cricket means that the player was 'out' and didn't score any runs while they were 'in'. Yes, it sounds weird doesn't it, you should hear the rest of the game!!
