I met him in 1997 when he gave tickets to my Irish friends & after a fantastic concert we had a great time singing in the greenroom (my first folk brush with fame!) & I started collecting his music. sandra |

Unfortunately the fact is that sites can be hacked. I'm co-administrator of a hobby site which got hacked a few months ago. A virus was piggy-backed to our home page so that unsuspecting visitors, including myself, downloaded it. (my anti-virus program didn't detect it) There are so many nasty things that can be done. The lesson is, if something looks suspicious get out quick, and never surf without good security. |

25 May 08 - 07:12 PM (#2349049) Subject: RE: Tech: Christy Moore website From: Peace Possibly you typed in net or org instead of com. If so, some sob may have bought those addresses and put other stuff there. Thanks to a good friend, I was able to get all three: com, net and org for my own site. It's a wise move because it prevents that kind of thing from happening. I take no credit for thinking of that. My friend told me what he'd done and I was impressed as I am by anyone who understands computers and the www. |

26 May 08 - 01:32 AM (#2349176) Subject: RE: Tech: Christy Moore website From: Sandra in Sydney excellent advice to grab similar sites, Peace. I mistyped a friend's site one day (could have clicked on said site in the signature of any of his emails, but, no, I knew his address!) and ended up on a porn site. I've never left any site so quickly. sandra |

26 May 08 - 04:56 AM (#2349221) Subject: RE: Tech: Christy Moore website From: Mysha Hi, Then again, if any other organisation has a good reason to use the same address as you do, there won't be a .com, .net or, I take it, .org for them to use. It's like disallowing songs with the same title. There's a good side to it, but songs would get ever less catchy titles because the good ones were taken. So, does anyone know a song about a URL, yet?
